In conjunction with the entry into force of the decree from the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Safety (MASE) regarding Renewable Energy Communities and widespread self-consumption in Italy, Social Impact Agenda for Italy (SIA) initiates a research and in-depth analysis process to identify models and financing tools for CERs (Comunità Energetiche Rinnovabili) that ensure positive social impacts on the territories.
On February 20th, at 3:00 PM, the first webinar will be held, titled “CER AND IMPACT INVESTING. How to finance Renewable Energy Communities for a just transition?“. Starting from this session, SIA aims to engage in a collaborative discussion to guide technological offerings, market dynamics, and governance considerations towards business models suitable for making CERs activators of social impact, promoting sustainable and inclusive development in territories, with a particular focus on financing models and tools.
With contributions from experts, analysts, funders, and direct experiences in the territories, the webinar represents an initial moment of reflection and public discussion on the topic of impact finance for CERs, within the framework of green and just transition policies and processes that are underway.
The impact investing approach, with its characteristics of intentionality, additionality, and measurability of generated social impacts, seems to be able to drive CER experiences towards a greater awareness of underlying business models and related impacts, well beyond the horizon of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
