LUCAS is a non-profit cultural association and was established in 2002 with the aim of contributing to the creation of strategies for regional development through culture, in partnership and collaboration with entities, institutions, and foundations. These were the years of Turin and Piedmont leading up to the 2006 Winter Olympics.
From its inception, LUCAS has always maintained a dual focus: paying close attention to local territory while also staying tuned to international horizons and innovation.
In 2002, we initiated an ambitious project aimed at urban regeneration, cultural enhancement, and territorial marketing through events in Turin’s San Salvario district. Between 2002 and 2006, numerous cultural projects and interventions followed, accompanying the transformation of a city undergoing radical changes.
In 2005, on the Olympic Mountains of Val di Susa, we created Scenario Montagna, the first mountain-dedicated festival in Piedmont and among the first in Italy. The goal was to provide tools for promoting and enhancing cultural, touristic, and landscape resources through events, supporting the planning efforts of alpine territories, and aiding in the establishment of strategic partnerships. In 2024, the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary, alongside dozens of related projects in culture and the performing arts. In 2018, in collaboration with Turin’s Museo Nazionale del Cinema, we realized the Connections project, winning the Compagnia di San Paolo’s “Ora!” call dedicated to cultural innovation. In 2019, we won the national SIAE “Per Chi Crea” call, dedicated to youth and music.
In 2024, LUCAS won the “Torino, che cultura!” call (PN METRO PLUS AND CITTÀ MEDIE SUD 2021-2027) with the three-year project Narrazioni Parallele: a musical journey blending collective and artificial intelligence. Can artificial intelligence interact with classical, contemporary, and electronic music to innovate alongside the concert-going public? Can it simultaneously highlight emerging artists and engage new audiences within a newly created cultural ecosystem? Narrazioni Parallele fosters dialogue between natural and artificial intelligences, innovating the worlds of music and cultural engagement. It poses two challenges through two pathways: Contemporary Narration and Participatory Narration. Two parallel routes of innovation and participation converging annually until 2026. The bridge connecting them is Generative Artificial Intelligence, thanks to a partnership with Politecnico di Torino’s Engineering of Cinema and Media Communications. A third challenge involves making concerts and events accessible to hearing-impaired audiences, thanks to collaborations with APIC (Cochlear Implant Users Association) and MED-EL Italy.
And that’s not all: from 2025 onwards, both Scenario Montagna and Narrazioni Parallele will evolve and innovate further, generating meaningful impacts.
