The A.S.D. “pasSePORTout” was founded in 2005 based on the experience of two Professional Educators from the Territorial Educational Service of Valsesia (VC), a small valley at the foot of Monte Rosa. They came into contact with the world of Special Olympics Italy and decided to embark on a specific training path where sports are seen as a formative and educational resource.
Currently, A.S.D. “pasSePORTout” is composed of professionals in the disability and sports sectors, volunteers, and parents, all committed to promoting the culture of inclusion. One characteristic of our association is the presence of unified team sports in which athletes with and without disabilities, but of equal abilities, compete together according to the sports rules of Special Olympics.
We are active in the network of associations and services, serving as a reference point for inclusion projects.
“pasSePORTout” arises from two desires: one is to offer people with intellectual disabilities of all ages and genders the opportunity to create meaningful social and human connections, to be active subjects integrated into the local socioeconomic system, with a role that allows them to express their character and feelings. Two: to instill in the new generations the desire to do well, to do important things for themselves and others. How? Through volunteering.
We want to promote the growth of awareness of self and one’s abilities among young people, families, and volunteers through stimuli, socialization, and the sharing of common experiences conveyed by the values of sports. We aspire to build a community where every resource is valued for its uniqueness. An analysis of our territory reveals that the new generations are less involved in volunteering.
An important push in this direction has been given by CEVa, Comunità Educante Valsesia, of which we are active members. Already in “CRESCIAMO VOLONTARI,” a previous project partially funded by Fatto Bene, our goal was to sow the seeds of inclusion and sports, understood as a growth experience rather than just a result on a scoreboard, in schools and sports associations. After the realization of CEVa BOOM, the concluding event of the VASI COMUNICANTI project, given the participation of the young people, we are even more inclined to provide opportunities for volunteering.
Our Vision, also in light of the results obtained over the years, is to always have new goals to achieve, thus realizing with increasing concreteness a true right to sports in our territory for people with disabilities and encouraging young volunteers to approach:
“NOT A SEPARATE WORLD, BUT PART OF THE WORLD”
The association aims to promote the culture of inclusion by fostering self-awareness and capabilities, offering stimuli, socialization, and the sharing of common experiences conveyed by the values of sports. The goal is to enhance the ability to recognize talents, abilities, and one’s own body for better psychophysical well-being and to build a community where every resource is valued for its uniqueness.
