STAGE call for support to plans for the sustainable transition of SMEs

The STAGE program has announced a call within the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Sustainability Transition Program, aiming to identify and engage SMEs from all sectors to help them develop their sustainable transition plans, attract investments, and private financing through dedicated support. The program consists of three phases:

  1. Sustainability Assessment: 500 SMEs completing this phase will develop roadmaps and plans for the sustainability transition.
  2. Training and Capacity Building: This phase includes training modules in 4 pillars created by STAGE partners for SMEs.
  3. Consulting services for the development of investment plans and attracting private investments.

Each participating SME will be assigned a Sustainability Consultant to guide them through the STAGE transformation process, and in the last phase, up to 100 SMEs can receive up to €50,000 for developing an investment plan for sustainable transition. In the final part of the program, up to 50 selected companies will benefit from dedicated support services, while only the top 20 with the highest potential will receive additional technical consultancy in attracting private investments.

The project will remain open until May 31, 2025, for applications in the first two phases.

Interreg-Alcotra Call for “Microprojects”

A call, also open to SMEs, for cross-border cooperation projects between Italy and France with a limited financial volume, ranging from €25,000 to €75,000, covering two thematic areas (“Digital” and “Environment“). Regarding the environmental theme, the objective is to promote renewable energy, climate change adaptation, risk prevention, and improve the protection and conservation of nature and biodiversity. The maximum project duration is set at 18 months, with contributions up to 100% of eligible expenses. The deadline is March 5, 2024. The webinar presenting the call is available online.

The GEMSTONE project calls to support the green transition of SMEs have started

The European GEMSTONE project has launched four open calls, ending on December 31, 2024, to support manufacturing SMEs in the green transition. The calls cover:

  • Employee training through funding for Green Manufacturing courses at training and research institutes (TRAIN). A lump sum of €2,000 is provided. Deadline: December 31, 2024.
  • Internationalization process through participation in fairs and events related to Green Manufacturing (EXPLORE). The call includes all non-EU countries, with a focus on North America, Japan, and ASEAN countries. A lump sum of €1,500 is provided. Deadline: December 31, 2024.
  • Innovation projects: Contributions up to €60,000 – applications until October 31, 2023 (Expired).
  • Technology Adoption Projects: Contributions up to €40,000 – applications until October 31, 2023 (Expired).

New Sabatini Green

The New Sabatini Green supports investments related to the purchase or acquisition through financial leasing of new machinery, plants, and equipment for productive use with low environmental impact. Applications for the new intervention line can be submitted from January 1, 2023. The aid, in the form of a contribution towards plant expenses, is increased by 30% (similarly to what is already provided for “4.0” capital goods) compared to that foreseen by the New Sabatini for investments in ordinary capital goods.

Call for Proposals “Design calling digitale e sostenibile 2023-2024” by the Turin Chamber of Commerce

The call aims to stimulate design-based innovation within SMEs in the province of Turin, linked to digital and sustainable transition. It includes training activities, coaching, and grants for projects carried out in collaboration with designers or design studios present on the platform www.asktodesign.it. Applications are accepted from February 5 to 28, 2024.

Tax Credits for “Green” Innovation Investments

The tax credit for innovation investments provided by the National Transition 4.0 Plan includes a facilitation (10% of the cost) in the case of achieving an ecological transition objective (circular economy).

Within the National Transition 4.0 Plan, the tax credit for material “4.0” capital goods also includes (see Annex A Law 232/2016):

  • Components, systems, and intelligent solutions for managing, efficiently using, and monitoring energy and water consumption and reducing emissions.
  • Filters and treatment and recovery systems for water, air, oil, chemicals, and powders with efficiency signaling and anomaly or hazardous substance detection integrated with the factory system, capable of alerting operators and/or stopping machine activities.

MISE: €750 million for industrial investments in the Green New Deal

A MISE decree provides financial facilitations and non-refundable contributions to support industrial investments aimed at implementing research, development, and innovation projects for ecological and circular transition consistent with the areas of intervention of the “Italian Green New Deal.” Companies of any size engaged in industrial, agro-industrial, artisanal, industry service, and research center activities, presenting projects (with eligible costs between €3 million and €40 million) – even jointly – for industrial research and experimental development projects aimed at creating new products, processes, services, or significantly improving them. Applications starting from November 17, 2022.
